Allan Green, founder of Greenwood Ridge Winery, oversees the International Canned Wine Competition. Despite fewer entries, the quality of canned wines continues to rise. Judges rate wines as gold or no medal, with 40% receiving gold this year. The Best of Show went to Archer Roose Bubbly Rosé, and Best Spritzer awarded to Somerbella Rossini Spritz. A tie for Best Canned White was between a white pinot noir from Freetime and a chardonnay from Wise Villa. The competition showcases quality canned wines and their attractive packaging.
This year's Best of Show Sparkling Wine was the 2024 Archer Roose Bubbly Rosé from Veneto, Italy, sporting a stylish moose on the label.
The gorgeous label declares the Somerbella Rossini Spritz as a craft wine cocktail. Somerbella also make a canned mimosa with fresh orange juice, which I loved.
Best Canned White was a tie between a lovely white pinot noir from Freetime in Columbia Valley and a California chardonnay from Wise Villa.
We rate the wines as either gold or no medal... awarded 40% of the wines gold.
