A Beaut New Wine Bar Is Coming to Borough
"We are so excited about this new chapter for Lady of the Grapes! We're looking forward to launching a bigger space to welcome more people, bring joy through good honest French cooking and, most importantly, continue to support the talented women making delicious wine all over the world."
"The 400+ wine list, with many available by the glass, will carry the same Lady of the Grapes ethos of showcasing natural, organic wines and bottles made by female producers, with Head Chef Matyáš Plzák cooking up modern French bistro fare to go with it. There'll also be the 45-cover speakeasy-style Forbidden Fruit bar in the basement."
Carole Bryon, a Parisian restaurateur and WSET-certified wine expert, is expanding her Lady of the Grapes concept with a second venue at the Menier Chocolate Factory near Borough Market. The ground-floor restaurant accommodates 60 guests with terrace seating for 20, offering a 400+ wine list emphasizing natural, organic wines and female producers. Head Chef Matyáš Plzák prepares modern French bistro cuisine. The basement features Forbidden Fruit, a 45-cover speakeasy-style bar serving charcuterie and the same wine selection. The Grade-II listed Victorian building provides an impressive setting for the expansion, maintaining the original venue's mission to champion women winemakers globally.
