This Airport Built the World's First Runway Sauna-Here's What You Need to Know
Briefly

Finland, known for its rich sauna culture, boasts more than 3 million saunas, equating to almost one per person. Recently, Helsinki Airport unveiled the first-ever runway sauna to showcase this cultural element, although it was only a one-day installation meant for visual appeal rather than usage. Travelers at the airport can still enjoy three operational saunas in the main terminal and additional facilities nearby. Helsinki Airport is frequently commended for its service, ranking highly in European airport reviews, complementing Finland's recognition as one of the happiest countries.
Anna Tuomi, Finavia's head of marketing, stated, "Most airports have transit zones-some even have saunas. It is the touchpoint to tune into the rhythm, values, and mindset of Finland."
Helsinki Airport is notable for consistently ranking as one of the best airports in Europe, as recognized by SkyTrax, providing comfort even for non-sauna-goers.
