Chiefs' Xavier Worthy released after Texas DA declines to pursue charges
Briefly

Xavier Worthy, a Kansas City Chiefs player, was released after the Williamson County district attorney decided not to proceed with felony domestic violence charges against him. The DA stated they had consulted witnesses and found insufficient grounds for the case. Worthy's attorneys maintain his innocence, claiming the allegations stemmed from a dispute with a female who resided in his home. They assert she attempted extortion before making the false claim after being asked to leave due to her infidelity. The Chiefs are currently gathering more information on the matter.
Records showed that Worthy had been arrested Friday by deputies and held in the county jail on a charge of assault on a family or household member in which their breath was impeded, or choking in common terms.
Worthy's attorneys stated their client was innocent and that the allegation was made by a female living in Worthy's home who had been asked to leave.
The complainant further destroyed a room in the residence, scratched Mr. Worthy's face and ripped out parts of his hair, which there is photographic evidence of.
The Chiefs told the Associated Press on Saturday that they were aware of the situation and still gathering information.
