This team obviously is not going to be competitive as it stands right now, and we can only hope that the future will look more exciting."
"Part of that is due to a lot of new prospects that have come into the organization since last season, a lot of those being 2025 MLB Draft picks headlined by Eli Willits. Some of those other prospects, like righty Luis Perales, who was acquired from the Boston Red Sox earlier this offseason, have come into the organization from deals."
Washington Nationals overhauled their organization this offseason, filling numerous roles and assembling the youngest cumulative front office and coaching staff in baseball. The roster, however, remains largely intact and insufficiently competitive for the coming season. The organization added multiple prospects, including 2025 draft headliner Eli Willits and right-hander Luis Perales acquired from the Boston Red Sox. Trade momentum for All-Star lefty MacKenzie Gore faded after contending clubs like the Chicago Cubs, New York Yankees, and Boston Red Sox each acquired controllable starting pitchers. Those clubs filled rotation needs with pitchers viewed as equal to or worse than Gore, reducing trade likelihood.
