WPSL Pro is set to become the first second-division women’s professional soccer league in the United States, launching in late 2026. Originally aimed at a third-division slot, the league capitalized on the opportunity for growth. Sean Jones, co-founder, emphasized that it will serve as a vital link for players, communities, and investors in women's sports. The inaugural season will include 16-20 teams, with a franchise fee of $1 million. Cleveland has already confirmed a team, proposing a $50 million stadium for future matches.
WPSL Pro is the bridge that's been missing -- not just for players, but for the communities, investors and brands ready to be part of the next chapter in women's sports.
The Cleveland group plans to build a $50 million, 10,000-seat downtown stadium for the women's team and an MLS Next Pro team, which is a slightly scaled-down version of its NWSL proposal.
