Interim general manager Mike DeBartolo appointed Miguel Cairo as the interim manager of the Nationals after the firings of Dave Martinez and Mike Rizzo. Cairo was hired as bench coach for the 2024 season and has a long history in baseball, playing 17 seasons and coaching at various levels. He has strong ties to the organization and has previously filled in as acting manager. DeBartolo praised Cairo's respect in the organization and his leadership qualities, anticipating a positive impact on the team.
