Jorge Lopez is out as the Nationals' bullpen moves on
Briefly

The Washington Nationals made significant roster changes following struggles in the bullpen, designating Jorge López for assignment while also releasing Colin Poche and Lucas Sims. López, who had a 6.57 ERA this season, was part of a bullpen that collectively posted a dismal 9.46 ERA. Manager Dave Martinez emphasized the need to provide younger pitchers opportunities after witnessing a lackluster performance from veterans. Right-hander Eduardo Salazar was recalled to join the bullpen following these moves, indicating a shift towards developing young talent within the team.
"It was all about he has ups and downs so far this year," Manager Dave Martinez said of López. "It got to the point where you saw what [Brad] Lord did [in Friday's win, throwing scoreless seventh and eighth innings]. And I felt like now's the time to really try to focus and give our young kids a shot to go ahead and do what they've been doing."
"Sometimes places aren't the right fit," Martinez said. "And I don't think this was the right fit for [López]."
