HUD to move into the National Science Foundation headquarters, no current plan on where to relocate NSF employees
Briefly

HUD Secretary Scott Turner and Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin announced plans to move HUD's headquarters to the NSF building in Alexandria, Virginia. While no timeline for the move exists yet, it aims to improve conditions for HUD employees currently facing deteriorating work environments. The current headquarters is also set to be sold due to substantial maintenance issues and low occupancy levels. Youngkin emphasized the need to keep NSF in the northern part of Virginia, showing commitment to enhancing government infrastructure in the region.
The timing of the transition is still being worked out... It's going to be done in an efficient manner that allows NSF to continue to form and function.
This move also signifies the prioritization of health, safety and well-being for our HUD workforce who have previously been working in unsafe conditions to this day.
We had multiple sites that we presented to GSA for HUD, and we're just dusting off and going to present them for NSF.
The Robert C. Weaver Federal Building has more than $500 million in deferred maintenance and modernization needs and is only at half of its total occupancy.
