Complete breakdown of the Washington Nationals' selections in the 2025 MLB Draft
Briefly

The Washington Nationals concluded their 2025 MLB Draft, receiving favorable feedback throughout the league. Eli Willits, selected first overall, showcases significant potential with multiple above-average skills. Ethan Petry, selected second, shows great promise as a first base/OF prospect with impressive power statistics. Landon Harmon, a third-round pick, adds depth to pitching prospects, creating anticipation for the team's future direction and restructuring under interim GM Mike DeBartolo. A total of 20 draft picks were made, all aiming for a chance to join the Nationals roster.
Eli Willits was an awesome pick to kick off the chaos of the 2025 MLB Draft. He already possesses 4 above-average tools at just 17-years-old, and should have the opportunity to gain at least average power by the time he gets to the big leagues. I wrote yesterday about how accurate his comparison to Francisco Lindor as a prospect could be.
Ethan Petry could legitimately be the Nationals' version of Pete Alonso if his development goes according to plan. He has a ton of pop, and put up great numbers with wood bats in the Cape Cod League last summer, so his pop is very real.
Landon Harmon was the last pick I wrote about yesterday, but there is a ton to like about the young righty.
