"(He's) status quo, getting better,"
"I would anticipate this week, at some point, him being back to 100% ready to fully practice and play."
"I take things day by day and just continue to do what I've been doing since I've turned pro. I've learned a lot of things from a lot of guys, and my parents have taught me to approach things day by day and really be grateful for every opportunity you have. That's just what I'm going to continue to do."
The Washington Capitals placed 22-year-old defenseman Vincent Iorio on waivers after he made the Opening Night roster but was a healthy scratch for the first four games. Other NHL teams have 24 hours to claim Iorio; if unclaimed, the Capitals can assign him to the AHL. The move signals Dylan McIlrath is nearing full recovery from a lower-body injury suffered October 4 and could be activated to the 23-man roster, joining Declan Chisholm as a depth defenseman. Iorio has primarily played for the Hershey Bears, winning Calder Cups in 2023 and 2024, and has appeared in nine NHL games.
