Trump Hasn't Left Much Kennedy Center to Stay Open
U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper ordered Trump’s name be removed from the Kennedy Center within two weeks. Cooper partially granted a preliminary injunction requiring the center to halt plans to close. The Kennedy Center was established by Congress in 1964 as a living memorial to President John F. Kennedy. Cooper found no evidence the board considered its full statutory obligations when deciding on a wholesale shutdown. Trump had announced a two-year renovation in February after audiences plummeted and prominent artists canceled appearances. Trump later said on Truth Social he wants to shift responsibility to Congress, claiming he would not continue without freedom to restore the center physically, financially, and artistically.
