Jacob Melanson confused why Brandon Duhaime was so angry with him during Capitals-Kraken game: 'Obviously, he wanted it the whole night and he finally got it'

"I mean, if I got that guy that mad, I must be doing my job the right way. Obviously, he wanted it the whole night, and he finally got it, so."

"I didn't, and I feel like that might have made things a little different,"

Brandon Duhaime poked the butt-end of his stick from the Seattle Kraken bench, striking Jacob Melanson in the face during the second period. The NHL Department of Player Safety fined Duhaime $2,500 for unsportsmanlike conduct after reviewing game tape. Duhaime later chased Melanson and they fought with 1:17 remaining; both received fighting majors and Duhaime an additional minor for roughing, creating a late Kraken power play. The bout was Melanson's first NHL fight; he had 11 prior fights in the AHL and juniors. Duhaime recorded his sixth fight of the season and 55th of his career.
