
A Gold Star widow asked for help getting a fresh photo of her late husband’s grave at Arlington National Cemetery over Memorial Day weekend. She shared the grave location and wrote that she wanted to know people still stopped by, said his name, and remembered him. By Monday, the grave in Section 60 became a focal point for visitors, including senior Trump administration officials, veterans, journalists, and dozens of strangers. Outgoing Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, an Iraq War veteran, visited and posted a photo with a challenge coin on the headstone. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth also visited with his family and laid roses at the site.
"Sharrell Shaw had posted what she called probably a long shot appeal on X late Sunday, asking whether anyone visiting Arlington over the holiday weekend might stop by the grave of her late husband, Staff Sergeant Alan W. Shaw, and send her a fresh photo. “There's just something about knowing people still stop by, still say his name, still remember,” she wrote, sharing the location. “This is probably a long shot, but if anybody happens to be in DC this weekend and plans on visiting Arlington, I would love to see a fresh photo of my husband's grave in Section 60.”"
