Terry McLaurin resolved a contract holdout and returned to the Washington Commanders after securing an extension. The holdout kept him away from practice but strengthened his personal connection with quarterback Jayden Daniels. McLaurin is a veteran entering his third contract and nearing 30, while Daniels is a 24-year-old entering his second season. The pair developed a bond during their first season together that goes beyond statistics. Daniels publicly and privately supported McLaurin throughout the holdout, reinforcing McLaurin's belief in his worth and emphasizing loyalty and mutual respect between teammates.
"I mean, I told y'all he was coming back soon," Jayden Daniels said Wednesday afternoon.
"It's bigger than ball," Daniels said. "Obviously, he's earned that. You want to have people's back who earn stuff, especially in this league. He put in the work, day in and day out, year in and year in. He's very deserving of getting paid."
"All this was kind of unraveling, and to be able to have conversations with your quarterback, somebody I consider my friend and my teammate, it really helped me," McLaurin said. "He never let me forget that my presence is missed out there. He never let me forget that I'm worth everything that I'm asking for. He never let me forget that he's got my back."
