Comedian Amber Ruffin reflected on being canceled as the host of the White House Correspondents dinner, attributing her criticism of Trump as a factor. She expressed that losing the gig was a positive outcome because she didn’t want to suppress her views. The WHCA cited that Ruffin's presence could distract from the event’s focus on journalism, especially given the tension between Trump and the media. Ruffin had expressed doubts about sharing a space with Trump and has been vocal about various political issues well ahead of the dinner.
Ruffin stated, "I could f-king talk for the next three hours. But what I choose to say is, it's like, I lost the gig because I was out here talking s-t."
She explained, "And I think it's a good thing that I lost the gig, because I wasn't going to show up there and act all the way out."
