The Associated Press has obtained plans for a celebration marking the U.S. Army's 250th anniversary coinciding with President Trump's birthday. While the estimated cost of this event is controversialâreported to be around $92 millionâthe Army aims to create a nationwide celebration. The plans include a large military parade with 6,600 soldiers, 150 vehicles, and 50 helicopters. Army spokesman Col. Dave Butler emphasized the goal is to engage the nation and highlight the army's contributions, adding that a parade could enhance this celebration despite prior cancellations of similar events during Trump's first term.
We want to make it into an event that the entire nation can celebrate with us... A parade might become part of that, and we think that will be an excellent addition to what we already have planned.
The plans...represent the Army's most recent blueprint for its long-planned 250th anniversary festival on the National Mall and the newly added element...a large military parade that Trump has long wanted.
