Another plane U-turned over the Atlantic after half its bathrooms stopped working
Briefly

A Swiss International Air Lines flight from Zurich to Washington, DC, had to return shortly after takeoff due to a plumbing issue affecting several onboard bathrooms. Specifically, a blockage rendered all toilets on one side of the Airbus A330 unusable, leading the airline to prioritize passenger safety and convenience by turning back. The flight landed back in Zurich approximately two and a half hours later, and though the delay was significant, the airline quickly arranged a replacement aircraft, minimizing inconvenience to passengers who arrived in DC about five hours later.
With 220 passengers on board, continuing the flight was unfortunately not an option, as all the toilets on the left-hand side of the plane were rendered unusable due to a plumbing issue.
Such a delay is of course very annoying for our passengers, and we would like to apologize again for the inconvenience. In such situations, we do everything we can to get our passengers to their destination as quickly as possible.
