Aliaksei Protas of the Washington Capitals is sidelined with a skate cut on his foot, being out week-to-week since April 4. Despite some initial optimism regarding his recovery, head coach Spencer Carbery indicated that Protas will need more time before he can skate again. The young player has had a breakthrough season, recording 66 points thus far. Meanwhile, goaltender Logan Thompson has begun skating again following an upper-body injury. Carbery praised Thompson, acknowledging his strong season performance.
"He'll be a little bit longer," Carbery said. "Maybe middle of [this] week." Protas is out week-to-week due to a skate cut.
"Everything's on track," he said. "And it's going to come to a point where it's going to be hard to pinpoint exactly but hoping that he touches the ice at some point this week."
Carbery confirmed that goaltender Logan Thompson has started to skate again after suffering an upper-body injury of his own on April 2 against the Carolina Hurricanes.
"He's had a phenomenal season," Carbery commented on Thompson, noting his impressive 31-6-6 record and performance.
