Aliaksei Protas is making strides in his recovery from a skate cut injury as he skated in a non-contact jersey before the Capitals' playoff series against the Montreal Canadiens. Although he logged just over 10 minutes on the ice and did not participate fully in the morning skate, coach Spencer Carbery remains hopeful about Protas's potential return during the series, indicating that he might play as early as Game 2. Protas had an impressive season prior to his injury, scoring 66 points in 76 games.
