Ryan Leonard, the 21-year-old Washington Capitals rookie, continues his exceptional performance with a goal-scoring streak of three consecutive games and a five-game point streak totaling four goals and one assist. In the Capitals' 2-1 win over Buffalo, Leonard scored the game-tying goal in the second period after forcing a turnover and executing a two-on-one opportunity. His 14 goals in 60 games represent the most by a Capitals rookie since Nicklas Backstrom's 14 goals in 82 games during the 2007-08 season. Leonard now has 35 points in 60 games this season and is tied for the league lead among NHL rookies with 14 goals.

"Yeah, thought their D was a little lackadaisical with that first pass. I kind of anticipated that and just beat the defenseman to the puck and just tried to execute, give ourselves a chance in this game."
