Mike Green throws out ceremonial first pitch at Chesapeake Baysox game
"The Chesapeake Baysox hosted Washington Capitals Night at Prince George's Stadium on Friday night and they had a special guest in attendance. Former Capitals defenseman Mike Green, a two-time Norris Trophy finalist, was on hand to sign autographs and take photos with fans. The former Young Gun, who once scored 31 goals and tallied 73 points during the 2008-09 season, also threw out the ceremonial first pitch... which was a tad high!"
"Afterward, Green, still beloved by fans of the Rock the Red era, met with Capitals faithful signing items and inking up postcards. Green played 15 seasons in the NHL, recording 501 points (150g, 351a) in 880 games with the Capitals, Detroit Red Wings, and Edmonton Oilers. The Calgary native's 113 goals with the Caps is tied for the fourth-most by a defenseman in franchise history while his 360 points rank sixth."
Mike Green, former Capitals defenseman and two-time Norris Trophy finalist, attended Washington Capitals Night at Prince George's Stadium. Green signed autographs, posed for photos, and threw the ceremonial first pitch, which sailed a bit high and was caught by a leaping Baysox catcher. The two-time NHL All-Star, who retired in 2020, smiled and appeared relieved the ball avoided the backstop as Capitals mascot Slapshot celebrated. Green played 15 NHL seasons, totaling 501 points (150 goals, 351 assists) in 880 games with Washington, Detroit and Edmonton; his 113 goals with the Capitals rank fourth among franchise defensemen. The Baysox beat Harrisburg 5-1 for their fourth straight win.
