""I always feel like I'm a player that I don't think a lot of people respect around the league,""
""So for me it's huge. I want to go out there and earn people's respect this year and keep pushing, keep getting wins for the Washington Capitals.""
Logan Thompson went undrafted out of the WHL, played at Brock University and spent several seasons in the minors before making his NHL debut with the Vegas Golden Knights in 2021. He grew frustrated with limited playing time in Vegas and requested a trade. Traded to the Washington Capitals for a third-round pick, Thompson won his first seven starts for the franchise and posted 26.0 goals saved above expected, a 31-6-6 record, and ranked in the top 10 in goals-against average (2.49) and save percentage (.910) among goaltenders with 25+ games. The Capitals rewarded him with the starting role.
