Ilya Protas learns he's a 2026 AHL All-Star from his older brother Aliaksei: 'I'm so proud of you'
"What's up, bro? Just wanted to reach out and say congrats on being selected to AHL All-Star Game, I'm so proud of you, we're so proud of you. Hard work pays off. Obviously, you couldn't do it without your teammates, so make sure the board is a little heavier today. We're so proud of you, love you, and congrats again."
"Protas is one of only two players to have appeared in all 34 of Hershey's games this season, tallying a team-leading 14 goals and ranking second on the team in overall scoring with 27 points. Among all AHL rookies, Protas's 27 points rank fourth, and his 14 goals rank second. From November 14 to November 29, Protas collected eight goals as part of a seven-game goal-scoring streak, which is tied for the longest goal streak in the league this season."
"Fellas, thank you so much, Wouldn't even get there without you, without your help, support. Love you, guys. Let's f***ing go today."
Ilya Protas, 19, was chosen as the Hershey Bears' lone representative at the AHL All-Star Classic in Rockford, Illinois, and is the first Bears rookie selected since Clay Stevenson in 2024. The selection was revealed during a pregame locker-room video when older brother Aliaksei Protas, a Washington Capitals forward, congratulated him on screen. Teammates applauded and Protas thanked the room, crediting their help and support. Protas has appeared in all 34 Hershey games, leads the team with 14 goals, ranks second with 27 points, and ranks among AHL rookies fourth in points and second in goals, including a seven-game goal streak.
