Mitch Gibson has been re-signed by the Hershey Bears to a one-year AHL contract, bolstering their goaltending roster. Last season, he excelled with the South Carolina Stingrays in the ECHL, winning 12 of 13 games before missing part of the season due to injury. Gibson has remained undefeated in three matches with the Bears, showcasing remarkable stats. He also made history by scoring a goalie goal, highlighting his talent. Gibson noted, 'it was a personal obstacle with being hurt all of January and February... it's just a matter of when you get injured in professional hockey.'
Despite his injury setbacks, Gibson stated, 'I just kept my head down, kept moving forward, tried to contribute however much I could during the regular season.'
Gibson is undefeated with the Hershey Bears, posting impressive stats: a 1.94 goals-against average and a .920 save percentage.
Gibson's achievements include scoring a goalie goal in the ECHL, becoming only the 16th goaltender in its history to do so.
