Cole Hutson named to 2025-26 All-Hockey East First Team ahead of what could be final college hockey game
"Cole Hutson was named to the 2025-26 All-Hockey East First Team on Friday. The Washington Capitals prospect has earned the honor in both of his seasons at Boston University, becoming only the second defenseman to do so in his freshman and sophomore seasons, joining his brother, Lane Hutson."
"Hutson is the lone Terriers player to make the First Team, as the 19-year-old defender leads BU in scoring with 32 points (10g, 22a) in 34 games. In Hockey East play alone, he ranks second among all of the conference's defensemen in scoring with 21 points (7g, 14a) in 23 games."
"Hutson is just the seventh NCAA defenseman since 2004-05 to record two straight seasons with 10-plus goals and 22-plus assists. The others to do so were Justin Schultz, Luke Hughes, Jack Johnson, Lane Hutson, Zeev Buium, and Matt Carle, all past or present NHLers."

The 19-year-old defenseman leads BU in scoring with 32 points across 34 games and ranks second among conference defensemen with 21 points in Hockey East play. Nationally, Hutson ties for fourth in NCAA defenseman scoring and leads all sophomore defensemen in points. His 25:37 average ice time ranks sixth nationally.
