""I've got to talk to Carbs. We just got through all the player meetings. I've got to talk to Carbs, meet with the coaching staff, and see how we move forward from there.""
""I think he's just a really smart coach. He cares a lot. I think he had a lot of success in the AHL, and the guys loved him. Everybody you talk to loves the guy.""
Washington Capitals general manager Chris Patrick is contemplating adjustments to head coach Spencer Carbery's coaching staff following an inconsistent season for the team's special teams. Carbery's assistants include Scott Allen, Patrick Wellar, and Kirk Muller. Allen's penalty kill unit improved significantly, finishing 14th in the league. Wellar, who took over defensive duties, helped the defense corps become one of the top offensive groups, scoring the third-most goals. Player Jakob Chychrun praised Wellar's coaching abilities and future potential in the league.
