Charlie Lindgren and Dylan McIlrath will both get into lineup for Capitals against Rangers
"The Washington Capitals are set for a New Year's Eve matinee matchup with the New York Rangers on Wednesday. The team's final game in the 2025 calendar year comes as they try to snap out of a funk that has seen them win just two of their last nine games. They'll also look to redeem themselves after an embarrassing 7-3 loss to the Rangers on December 23."
"Charlie Lindgren will get his 12th start of the 2025-26 season and first since a December 21 overtime loss to the Detroit Red Wings, per head coach Spencer Carbery. In Lindgren's three starts this month, he has gone 1-1-1 with a 2.93 goals-against average and a .892 save percentage. Lindgren already started against the Rangers once this season, posting a 35-save shutout in his first appearance in October."
Washington Capitals host the New York Rangers on New Year's Eve at Capital One Arena, seeking to end a slump with two wins in nine games and to rebound from a 7-3 loss on December 23. Charlie Lindgren will start his 12th game of 2025-26 and first since Dec. 21; he is 1-1-1 in December with a 2.93 GAA and .892 save percentage and 4-1 lifetime vs. New York. Logan Thompson will back up after allowing six goals on 20 shots last week. Dylan McIlrath will dress for his fifth game this season. The Rangers have lost two straight and sit sixth in the Metropolitan Division. Puck drop is 12:30 pm.
