WoW: Midnight Is Finally Making Transmog Much Cheaper And More Convenient
Briefly

World of Warcraft's transmogrification system is evolving in the 2026 Midnight expansion, introducing a one-time gold cost for outfits and automatic swapping based on situations. Currently, players must frequently transmog for each item that changes, especially with constant gear upgrades. This leads to mismatched appearances as players delay spending gold. With the new system, transmog will be based on item slots, allowing players to maintain appearances for as long as desired. Additionally, saving outfits becomes cheaper, encouraging frequent style changes without gold penalties.
"For someone who transmogs frequently, this is going to be much, much, much, much cheaper, gold-wise," WoW senior game director Ion Hazzikostas told GameSpot in an interview prior to the expansion's full reveal at Gamescom.
Because the transmog is tied to the items themselves and not the item slot it goes in, getting a new piece of gear means having to frequently re-transmog gear.
