Remedy Entertainment's new project, Firebreak, marks its first foray into multiplayer gaming, transitioning from their well-known single-player titles like Alan Wake and Control. This three-player co-op shooter takes place in the Control universe, set years after the original game's events. Players step into the shoes of emergency unit members tasked with maintaining safety within the mysterious Oldest House. Although Firebreak lacks the traditional cinematic storytelling hallmark of Remedy games, the developers integrate narrative design into gameplay while tackling supernatural threats like the Hiss.
"This game actually has quite a bit of narrative design thinking in it, especially because there is not a lot of room for direct storytelling," says game director Mike Kayatta.
Firebreak follows members of the titular emergency unit, who serve as the first responders keeping everyone else (relatively) safe while venturing into the Oldest House.
