Rumors arose when writer Yuji Horii allegedly hinted at a remake during a convention appearance, though this was quickly dismissed. However, during an interview for Chrono Trigger's 30th anniversary, Horii showed enthusiasm for the idea of a remake, saying he has been contemplating it due to persistent fan requests. Despite Square Enix casting doubt on the project, interest remains high.
Yuji Horii expressed interest in a Chrono Trigger remake, stating, 'I get a lot of requests for the remake of Chrono Trigger as well, and so I'm starting to contemplate on it.'
Despite initial confusion over Horii's comments, it appears that some level of consideration regarding a Chrono Trigger remake is indeed occurring within Square Enix.
