Viking survival sim Valheim will finally come to the PS5 in 2026
"The hit survival sim Valheim will be released for the PS5 in 2026, ending years of speculation. The year is all we got, as developer Iron Gate AB didn't announce an actual release date. Still, it's better than nothing. We do know that the PS5 version will feature full crossplay with all other platforms, so that's good."
"Piktiv, a company that regularly assists Iron Gate with Valheim stuff, is working on the port so the main development team can focus its efforts on updates and DLC drops. To that end, there's a massive expansion coming called that introduces a new biome. For the uninitiated, Valheim is a popular survival sim based on Norse mythology with a strong emphasis on cooperative play. Players team up to hunt, build bases, explore and take down bosses."
Valheim will arrive on PS5 in 2026 without a specific release date announced. The PS5 edition will support full crossplay with Xbox and PC. Piktiv will handle the PS5 port so Iron Gate AB can prioritize updates and DLC, including a large upcoming expansion that introduces a new biome. Valheim is a cooperative survival simulation rooted in Norse mythology where players hunt, build bases, explore, and defeat bosses. The game launched on Steam Early Access in early 2021 and became a major success, and it released on Xbox Series X/S in 2023. There are no current plans for a Switch 2 version.
