Total War: Medieval 3 Announced, But It's A long Way Off
""Our vision is for MEDIEVAL III to be the definitive Total War sandbox set within the Medieval world and to be the ultimate "What if?" game where you can alter the course of history," says Pawel Wojs, Game Director, on a new blog. "We aim to set the scene by immersing you in the historical authenticity you expect from Total War. As you play, the world responds in ways that feel genuinely plausible."
"The new game will be running on some fancy new tech as well: the Warcore engine. This will apparently allow them to release their games on console in the future, too, opening up a whole new market for Creative Assembly. Are there a lot of people looking to play Total War on a PlayStation? I guess we will see."
Creative Assembly is developing Total War: Medieval 3 to mark the series' 25th anniversary. The project is currently in early pre-production and is expected to take several years, with a possible release around 2028. The game aims to be a definitive Total War sandbox in the Medieval period, offering alternate-history 'What if?' play and immersive historical authenticity. Player decisions will shape a plausibly responsive world. The title will use the new Warcore engine to upgrade animation, rendering, and campaign systems and to enable future console releases. The historical sub-series aims to regain critical and commercial strength.
