Frogwares has launched a Kickstarter campaign for The Sinking City 2, targeting $105,000 in funding to support its development amidst ongoing adversities faced by the studio in Ukraine due to the invasion. This campaign will not only provide a financial safety net but also enhance gameplay features. The game promises a horror-first design that focuses on combat and exploration while incorporating Lovecraftian elements within the storyline. The studio reflects on past successes in crowdfunding and the crucial safety net it provided during tumultuous times, having adapted creatively under pressure.
"After three years of this horrid war hanging over our daily lives, we've learned to adapt, though it has never been easy," Frogwares CEO Wael Amr said.
"In 2023 when we released Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened with the help of Kickstarter and our loving fans, we built ourselves a safety net that saved us more than once."
"We're not ditching our investigation roots entirely but the chance to spread and challenge our norms has really helped the team grow," Frogwares publishing director Sergiy Oganesyan added.
"Given that The Sinking City 2 is a far more complex and demanding game, we've decided to take the same route as before," Frogwares stated.
