"By suing over an unreleased project that merely employs the same time-honored tropes embraced by scores of other games released both before and after -like , The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild , Far Cry: Primal , Far Cry: New Dawn , Outer Wilds , , and many more-Sony seeks an impermissible monopoly on genre conventions."

Sony filed a copyright lawsuit alleging Tencent's upcoming survival game Light of Motiram is a 'slavish clone' of Sony's Horizon open-world RPG, citing similarities such as a tribal, prehistoric aesthetic and roaming mechanical animals. Tencent listed other precedent games that use similar elements and quoted Guerrilla staff expressing reservations about uniqueness. Tencent also noted the target game is unreleased and set for 2027, arguing design changes could occur and that legal action over hypotheticals is improper.
