Nintendo has removed its previous disclaimer regarding cloud save data backup for various games, including The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The new disclaimer indicates that save data created in the second slot for the Switch 2 edition can't be transferred to the original Switch. However, it implies that save data from the original version can be transferred to Switch 2, which benefits players upgrading to the new console. Further system transfer options are available for digital games between the two consoles. Enhanced features are also slated for the upgraded games.
"Save data created in the second save data slot in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom-- Nintendo Switch 2 Edition cannot be transferred to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on Nintendo Switch."
"It sounds like cloud saves for the Switch 1 version of the game can be transferred to Switch 2, allowing those who played Tears of the Kingdom on the original Switch to easily carry over their save data."
"Players can also initiate a system transfer between Switch 1 and Switch 2 to carry over digital games and save files."
"Both will come with improved performance and additional features like the Zelda Notes app, which adds in-game achievements and the ability to share discoveries and even items with other players."
