'Stay Tuned': Nintendo Hints at New Mario Game for Switch 2
Briefly

In a recent interview, Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser hinted at an upcoming Mario game for Switch 2, urging fans to 'stay tuned'. Despite expectations of a Mario launch title, Nintendo confirmed Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza for the 2025 lineup. The first-party launch on June 5 only includes two titles. Interviews and announcements suggest that no mainline Mario or Zelda games will debut this year, as Nintendo focuses on enhancing existing titles with upgraded versions for the new platform.
"Stay tuned," Bowser said. "You know, we have a long, long catalog, and a long list of (intellectual property) that I'm sure will make its way to the platform."
Nintendo has not revealed its first-party slate for the Switch 2 beyond the titles confirmed for the console in 2025.
Only two first-party games are confirmed to be launch titles that will be available on June 5 when the Switch 2 is released.
The revealed first-party slate likely means there will be no mainline Mario or The Legend of Zelda release this year.
