Red Dead Redemption 2 Is Now The 4th Best-Selling Game Of All Time
"That's right, everybody's favourite cowboy simulator Red Dead Redemption 2 has sold-in a staggering 79 million copies, which brings the franchise up to a total of 106 million units sold. Note: sold-in is a term used to mean copies that were sold to retailer, whereas sold-through refers to copies actually sold from retailer to customer. That 79 million copies means Red Dead Redemption 2 is now the 4th best-selling game of all time."
"It'll very likely capture third place soon as well, currently occupied by Wii Sports which has sold 82.9 million copies. Once it grabs 3rd place on the leaderboard, Rockstar will officially have two of three best-selling games of all time, with GTA IV boasting 220 million sold in 2nd place. Minecraft is the current leaderboard king, at 350 million copies and counting."
Take-Two reported Red Dead Redemption 2 sold-in 79 million copies, bringing franchise sales to 106 million units. Sold-in denotes copies sold to retailers while sold-through denotes copies sold to customers. RDR2's total ranks it as the fourth best-selling game of all time and currently edges Mario Kart by roughly 980,000 copies. The game is poised to overtake Wii Sports (82.9 million) for third, which would give Rockstar two of the top three positions alongside GTA IV at 220 million and Minecraft at 350 million. GTA 6's launch could dramatically accelerate leaderboard movement. Take-Two did not disclose sales for Borderlands 4 or Mafia: The Old Country; Borderlands 4 was described as "softer" than expected.
