PS Portal Gets Massive Update Which Unlocks Cloud Streaming, No PS5 Needed
"The leaks and rumours were true: PS Portal has received a huge update which adds the ability to stream games directly to it via the cloud. The update is going live today, enabling 2802 games to be streamed directly to the handheld device without the need for a PS5. In case you didn't know, previously you could only stream games to the PS Portal from your PS5 via the Remote Play system, but now that limitation has been removed."
"3D Audio Support: 3D Audio is now available during Remote Play and Cloud Streaming on supported games, when using a compatible audio device. Immerse yourself in spatial sound with wired headphones or a compatible PlayStation Link wireless audio device such as the Pulse Explore wireless earbuds and Pulse Elite wireless headset. Passcode Lock: Protect your device by setting a passcode on your PS Portal. To set a passcode, go to Settings > System > Passcode."
PS Portal now supports direct cloud streaming of 2,802 games to the handheld, eliminating the need for a local PS5 connection. Cloud streaming access requires an active PlayStation Plus Premium membership, which also enables many PlayStation Game Catalog titles to be streamed. The update adds 3D Audio support for Remote Play and Cloud Streaming when using compatible wired or PlayStation Link wireless audio devices. The update introduces a passcode lock to protect the device and a network status screen for checking connection quality. The update includes enhanced accessibility options and hints at future Cross-Buy or library expansion features.
