Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is the third entry and a multiplatform Japanese RPG that scales the series from its 3DS origins to larger systems. Players take the role of the Prince or Princess of Azuria and act as captain of the Rangers, riding Monsties and serving as environmental stewards. The kingdom faces a spreading Crystal Encroachment that has devastated neighboring Vermeil and intensified political tensions. Gameplay retains rideable, Pokemon-like Monsties and turn-based combat built on power, speed, and technique choices. Victories yield carveable parts used to craft weapons and armor.
