Rebellion Developments, known for its Sniper Elite series, has ventured outside its comfort zone with Atomfall, a survival action game. Set in a quarantined zone in 1960s England, it draws inspiration from classic British speculative fiction such as 'The Quatermass Experiment' and 'Day of the Triffids.' Players awaken with no memory in an area overrun by military patrols, bandits, and druid cultists. The game's narrative focuses on the protagonist's search for escape, encountering characters like Mother Jago along the way, all within a rich, post-apocalyptic environment.
Creative director Ben Fisher said, 'Atomfall' is a survival action game set in a quarantine zone in the 1960 north of England. We looked at a lot of 1960s speculative fiction from the U.K.
In the hands-on demo I played, I explored a world that had been isolated for five years. The military is patrolling the area. Bandits roam the roads.
