Bungie's recent reveal of the early footage for Marathon, their first-person extraction shooter, has been met with skepticism, especially amidst concerns about its potential fate similar to the failed Concord. This prompted a former Concord developer to post on Reddit, urging the gaming community to give Marathon a chance and acknowledge the hard work of its developers. Despite Concord's shortcomings, the ex-developer expressed hope for Marathon, noting the price point and differences between the titles. The upcoming closed alpha on April 23 is an important step in showcasing the game's potential.
Concord failed to inspire players, and the message was heard loud and clear. It was gut-wrenching to see our project fail, and be the laughing stock of many online.
I worked on Concord, and did my best. We came up short, please don't punish others for our mistakes.
To call this game a failure before it's even out, is wild to me.
Bungie specifically said you can expect to pay less than a 'full-priced' title, which might put it somewhere around $40 when it comes out in September.
