During Sony's State of Play, IO Interactive unveiled a new trailer for 007 First Light, introducing a fresh take on James Bond as a young MI6 recruit. This game, set to release in 2026 across multiple platforms, promises a unique origin story that will allow players to earn their '00' status. The reveal generated excitement but also some disappointment regarding the character design of the new Bond, described as lacking originality. This game has been in development since its announcement in 2020 by IO Interactive, known for the Hitman franchise.
According to First Light's website, IOI's game will feature a "wholly original Bond origin story" that will let players "step into the shoes of the world's favorite Secret Agent to earn their 00 status."
Earlier this week, IOI, the studio famously behind the excellent Hitman franchise, finally revealed more about its upcoming Bond game, including its name: First Light.
In 007 First Light, follow James Bond as a young, resourceful, and sometimes reckless recruit in MI6's training program, and discover an origin story of the world's most famous spy.
It's been a long wait for this game. IOI first announced this new 007 game nearly five years ago, back in November 2020.
