"An exact release date for Bungie's upcoming has been leaked, and it looks to be real, since it was the game's own community page that accidentally released the trailer. Marathon's community page on Xbox Series X|S accidentally put up a new trailer for the game, which was hastily taken down. It's still available to view in numerous places if you want to look for it, but I won't be linking it here for obvious reasons."
"The point is, the trailer ends by announcing Marathon will launch on March 5. Of course, we already knew the game was coming in March, but no exact date had been given. Marathon has had a rough time since it was announced. An initial lukewarm reception to Bungie's extraction shooter didn't get it off to the best start, and then the studio was once again rocked with plagiarism accusations. It all led to the game being indefinitely delayed while Marathon sorted everything out."
"However, to their credit, people's opinions seem to be shifting after a recent vidoc showed Bungie taking feedback seriously, and now folk seem genuinely interested in checking it out. Arc Raiders success may be both a help and a hindrance. On the one hand, it has helped popularise the extraction genre, perhaps helping people understand the premise ,which didn't quite land when Marathon was revealed. And Arc Raiders has shown there's definitely a strong market."
Marathon will release on March 5 for Xbox, PlayStation and PC following a leak and subsequent confirmation from Microsoft. The game's community page on Xbox Series X|S briefly posted a new trailer that was taken down, and the trailer announced the exact date. The title previously faced a lukewarm reception and plagiarism accusations that prompted an indefinite delay. A recent vidoc showing Bungie addressing feedback has improved public perception and renewed interest. The success of Arc Raiders has helped popularize the extraction genre and proven market demand. Marathon may benefit from this trend but will still need to compete for players against established rivals.
