Marathon Alpha Was Playable Early, Now Shut Down
Briefly

Bungie's upcoming game Marathon will start its alpha testing phase on April 23, allowing invited players an early glimpse of the gameplay. While some players streamed content prior, Bungie swiftly intervened to curtail unauthorized streaming. The alpha's primary aim is to assess technical capabilities and provide insights into the game's core mechanics. Importantly, this phase features limited content and lacks total stability, visuals, or progression systems. Players interested in joining future tests can connect through the game's Discord channel. Marathon is set to launch officially on September 23, supporting cross-play and available on multiple platforms.
The Marathon alpha officially begins at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET on April 23. This is a closed alpha test, so players need an invite to get in.
Bungie originally planned to prohibit alpha players from streaming their gameplay, but the developer later removed the non-disclosure agreement.
Cozmo, Bungie's community manager, expressed excitement over players enjoying their initial runs during a ''sneak peek'' of the Marathon alpha.
The alpha is intended to test Marathon's technical capabilities and its moment-to-moment gameplay loop, with Bungie stating, ''We plan to break stuff.''
