LoL esports team suspends player for saying women can't compete while menstruating
"I think there's just not enough support for female pro players... women's anatomy and their monthly cycles are just extremely different from males, and there's no proper support system for women to go through what they're going through."
"...even men just tilt out of their f-ing minds when they're playing League of Legends. So, when a woman is on the wrong part of the month and playing competitively, there is a time of the month where you should not be f-ing playing competitive games as a woman, in my opinion."
"I thought we're past that,"
"That's such a crazy take,"
Gabriël Rau, known as Bwipo, said on a Twitch stream that women should not play competitive games during their menstrual cycle. He argued that women's anatomy and monthly cycles differ from males and claimed there is no proper support system for female pro players. He cited living with a woman as the basis for his view and described her irritation while playing. His organization suspended him and he posted an apology for using his platform to fuel vitriol and sexism. Eefje "sjokz" Depoorter publicly criticized the remarks and defended womens continued high-level performance while menstruating. The original video circulated online and is no longer available.
