Leon S. Kennedy Is Back In Resident Evil Requiem, And Now He Has A Chainsaw
"The new trailer gives off serious Se7en vibes, starting with a wrinkly guy in goggles menacing Grace, before we get our first look at an older, more grizzled badass Leon Kennedy wielding an axe. We find him first checking out crime scenes, before he winds up doing some wetwork against an entire doctor's office with a chainsaw and meeting up with Grace."
"Previously, producer Masato Kumazawa attempted to temper expectations about which familiar faces will return for Requiem, teasing that "there will be characters that have been involved in the Raccoon City incident" in the game. Capcom had also explained why Leon was a "bad match" for Resident Evil Requiem, considering that the game focuses more on survival-horror. One assumes Kumazawa is absolutely cackling like a maniac right now."
"Leon's appearance in Requiem is fitting, given that he was the co-protagonist of Resident Evil 2, alongside Claire Redfield. By the end of the game, Raccoon City had been obliterated, and it was only featured once more in a mainline Resident Evil game, 1999's Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. Requiem will see players return to the infamous city in a dual storyline with Leon, as Grace Ashcroft explores a grisly mystery of her own in a new mansion. Check it out here:"
Resident Evil Requiem confirms Leon S. Kennedy as a playable character, portrayed as an older, grizzled operative who uses an axe. Sony released key art showing Grace Ashcroft, daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft from Resident Evil Outbreak, alongside Leon with his classic '90s hairstyle. The trailer evokes Se7en, opening with a goggled assailant and progressing through crime-scene investigation, brutal chainsaw combat in a doctor's office, and a meeting between Leon and Grace. Producer Masato Kumazawa hinted that characters tied to the Raccoon City incident will appear. The game uses a dual storyline split between Leon in Raccoon City and Grace in a new mansion. Requiem launches February 27 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2.
