Kojima Explains Why Physint Is His Return To MGS-Like Action/Espionage
Briefly

Hideo Kojima is set to develop several new titles, including a horror game called OD and an espionage game named Physint, which revisits his iconic Metal Gear Solid series. His inspiration for this return came during a personal health crisis brought on by the pandemic. While Profound is expected to take five to six years to complete after facing delays, Kojima promises it will utilize innovative technology for a unique gaming and cinematic experience. Despite numerous concepts for future titles, Kojima prefers others to create a potential Death Stranding 3.
"Of course, I have lots of new ideas that I want to create, but when I became sick during the pandemic, I realized that a lot of people wanted me to make something like Metal Gear," Kojima told Edge Magazine via GamesRadar. "That's when I had the idea for a new espionage game. I reflected, and thought the idea was good."
Kojima noted that both games have been impacted by the ongoing voice actors strike. But even without that delay, Kojima noted that Physint is still 'five to six years away' from release, which may push it outside of the current console generation.
Kojima hasn't shared any plot details about Physint yet, but he has indicated that it will use 'cutting-edge' technology to create a hybrid game and movie experience.
Kojima recently shared an idea for another game, which may be difficult to effectively pull off. Additionally, Kojima disclosed that he has a USB full of ideas to be used for future games in the event of his death.
