Players with Kapp'n unlocked can walk to his pier, enter the unlocked hotel, and talk with staff to begin activities. Speaking with Leilani at reception starts decorating quests, with a limit of two hotel rooms decorated per day. Tom Nook asks players to craft DIY items to ship and sell as promoted island goods, paying out in Hotel Tickets. Grams operates a souvenir shop in the hotel lobby where players can spend earned Hotel Tickets.
