Ghost of Yōtei, a PS5-exclusive sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, launches on October 2nd. The gameplay emphasizes exploration and player choice, with an open world that does not rush players. The story features a ronin named Atsu avenging her family, inspired by the onryō folklore. Advanced combat aims to replicate a classic samurai movie feel. The game includes features like Kurosawa mode, an expanded photo mode, and new cinematic experiences inspired by notable directors.
Sucker Punch says that the open world is designed around player choice, letting you focus on specific gameplay elements - like exploration or combat - based on what you're interested in.
Ghost of Yōtei isn't going to rush you through anything, allowing players the freedom to engage with the game at their own pace.
The story is inspired in part by the folklore creature known as an onryō, a sort of vengeful spirit fitting the themes of the game.
Yōtei will feature an expanded photo mode and will include 'Kurosawa mode' which renders the game in black-and-white like a classic Akira Kurosawa movie.
